Please make plans to join us at O-Sensei Memorial Seminar 2012 (link to flyer). It should be an excellent seminar! Our four instructors collectively have about one hundred fifty years of aikido experience.
The seminar will be held at Denmark High School (map), just south of Green Bay.
Sensei Kennan Purdy will be a guest instructor again this year. Ken started practicing Aikido in the 1950’s, and is the longest training American aikidoist known to us. Ken teaches at the Northern Wisconsin dojo in Merrill, WI.
Sensei Judy Leppert will also instruct one session. She has the distinction of being the first woman awarded yudansha rank by Tohei-shihan in the Midwest Federation.
Finally, Sensei Bob Graebel will instruct one session. He will be newly returned from Hombu Dojo and will share exercises from Doshu and Seki Shihan’s classes.
Kyu and Dan testing will be held at the seminar after Saturday’s classes. The MAF test application can be found in the Box.net widget to the right of this post. Test applications are due to the MAF by Wednesday, March 21st. The mailing address is provided in the flyer.
We have partnered with the Aloft Hotel in Green Bay for those needing to stay overnight. They gave us a special room rate of $85. You can register by calling 920-884-0800. Use group code OSD21A to get the discount. You can also register on-line by clicking this link. The Aloft Hotel has an excellent hot tub for soaking sore muscles after a day on the mats. They will hold our room block until April 9th, after which the discount can’t be guaranteed, so please register early!
On Saturday night at 7pm we will gather for a hibachi dinner at Nakashima. Shuttle service will be provided from the hotel to the restaurant and back.
Aikidoists from all federations are welcome to join us. We hope to see you there!
